By Josue Acevedo, Inside Sales Representative

When determining which filter is for you, it is important to determine which MERV rating is right for you.

MERV stands for Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value. The MERV value system starts from 1 (lowest) to 16 (highest). The higher the rating, the more efficient a filter will work in trapping particles in the air. The filter you need all depends on the application of the filter.

The most common filters used are usually a pleated filter with a MERV 8 rating. These filters trap particles like mold spores and cement dust to pollen and dust mites. MERV 8 pleated filters will cover your every day needs of an air filter in commercial buildings and residential homes with specific circumstances.
